Death Midwife Intermediate Skills Training
This class is for those who have previously attended Sharon’s Death Midwife Intensive and would like a more in-depth opportunity to learn the skills of supporting and guiding our friends and family when they face death.
This workshop will dig deeper into the following areas:
- Near Death Awareness: understanding the signs & symptoms, phases and stages of dying.
- How to Provide Emotional Support for the Patient and their Family.
- Providing Physical Support for the Dying.
- Providing Spiritual Support.
- Active Listening.
- The Vigil Process.
- Rituals.
- Care of the body before and after death.
This class will also have a hands-on training where we will be doing some role playing to increase our competence in the tools and techniques learned in the Death Midwife Intensive. We will be planning a vigil, setting the room up for a vigil, and actually working with volunteer “dead bodies” that have agreed to let us actually wash them. We’ll also practice more in depth on proper draping of a body while you’re washing it, dressing and undressing, and laying the body out in honor.
The work of a Death Midwife makes a huge difference in the lives of the dying and their families. By becoming competent in these skills, we can bring great comfort and deeper meaning to the dying.
We must have at least 5 people to have this class!
Cost $100
Class time 8am – 5pm.
